Caring for Solid Wood Furniture Through Indian Seasons
14 May 2026 • 4 min read

Solid wood is a natural material that responds to moisture in the air. A little seasonal care keeps it looking and behaving the way it did on day one.
Everyday cleaning
Dust with a dry or slightly damp cotton cloth along the grain. Avoid all-purpose sprays and alcohol-based cleaners — they strip the finish and leave dull patches.
Monsoon
Keep furniture a few centimetres away from external walls so air can circulate behind it. If drawers become stiff, that is temporary swelling, not damage; do not force or sand them during the wet months.
Summer and polishing
Keep pieces out of direct afternoon sun, which fades finish and dries the surface. A light wax or polish once or twice a year is enough to maintain depth of colour.
